Now, yet another movie (2012) arrives to attempt to frighten us and underline the doomsday prophecy of Dec. 2012, reported to be revealed in the ancient Mayan cyclical calendar where the world ends in unprecedented catastrophe. 

Throughout time we have withstood destructive hurricanes, major earthquakes and tidal waves of enormous proportions.  While it’s true that some groups of people have suffered or died at the hands of these, no whole modern society has ever been completely wiped out, as this “prediction” and movie would have us believe is our fate. 

Have a well-stocked safety/emergency bag with easily transportable food and water at your ready.  That only makes sense these days.  But expecting the end of the world and running off to build a hidden mountain enclave, underground tunnels, or build an ark, like the one my husband and I recently viewed in Jamaica, are another thing.
