Conference Attendance Value

Having just returned from my week-long (#CAM09) coaches conference in Missouri, I’m struck by several important lessons when attending longer trainings and conferences such as this one. Here are a few points that may be helpful for your next event:
1. Attending with no intention is fine, as long as you accept the experiences you had or didn’t have while there. I recommend you have some objective before arriving, i.e. learning new technology tips from peers, making prospective career connections you can leverage, be introduced to a new service expert or business resource—for you or your clients.
2. Don’t hide out, you can do that other times. Conference time is to be a shared experience.

4. Find value in every interaction with others besides just your learning sessions. You never know from where new ideas or information will come and when you will be able to pass something useful on to others as well.
5. Treat each annual conference as a new experience, not dependant on the best or worst of another conference.

Learn at least one powerful personal lesson (one I learned: “Fears that are heard by the self, that are listened to and respected (because afterall your inner self will warn and protect you), will then give you freedom to move without hesitation or restriction.
