Holiday Temp Work Through Temp Companies
You may ultimately want a permanent job. But while you’re looking for that work – and maybe figuring out what it is you want to sink your teeth into - why not take a temporary holiday job?
With the holiday season well under way now, it may not be as easy for you to fill a Santa costume or get hired for department store customer service overflow…it is nearly Christmas. But, there are plenty of other short-term assignments with seasonal or short-term companies. It depends on your skills.
My friend has a holiday wreath making business every year November-December. Look for shops like hers in temporary warehouses or search them out through contacting real estate companies and asking if they have someone who has temporarily rented space. See if you can get hired to help them finalize their sales and/or breakdown their business and pack items away till next season.
Search Craigs List online for the area where you live or are willing to travel within. Craig’s List is the online job listing site my friend finds her temporary staff every year. Elance.com is a website posting administrative, graphic or website skilled positions and you can take on assignments of any length and complexity. Simply Hired’s website offers you advanced search features to enter your job category, specific area where you want to work, or simply peruse the general offerings there. Don’t expect these jobs to turn into something you want to be doing long-term, but if you liked this kind of work, you’re now just a little more trained to position yourself for that long-term position.
